A24's X — a slasher flick directed by Ti West and starring Kid Cudi, Mia Goth, Jenny Ortega, and Brittany Snow — comes to theaters nationwide next Friday, March 18. Today, the studio announced that the film's official Chelsea Wolfe score will drop a week later. Along with the news, they shared the soundtrack's lead single, a cover of Arthur Fields' 1918 folksy chanson "Oui Oui Marie."
Wolfe's version is twice as long as the original and transposes Fields' proto-roaring-'20s kitsch into a dark, gothic, hair-raising ballad — the type of gloomy melodrama she does better than just about anyone else.
X follows a group of young filmmakers who set out to make an adult movie in rural 1979 Texas, on the property of an elderly couple with a dark secret.
