In the Best Melodic Rap Performance category, "Hurricane" defeated "Pride Is the Devil" (by J. Cole and Lil Baby), "Need to Know" (Doja Cat), "Industry Baby" (Lil Nas X featuring Jack Harlow) and "WUSYANAME" (Tyler, The Creator featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Ty Dolla $ign). The other nominees in Best Rap Song were "My Life" (J. Cole Featuring 21 Savage and Morray), "Bath Salts" (DMX featuring JAY-Z and Nas), "Best Friend" (Saweetie Featuring Doja Cat), and "Family Ties" (Baby Keem Featuring Kendrick Lamar).

The win for "Hurricane" is especially notable since one of the song's featured artists, vowed to never submit his music to Grammys again after his smash album After Hours failed to garner any nominations.
