Doja Cat has announced that she’ll be pulling out of her scheduled summer performances in support of the Weeknd as well as a string of slated festival appearances. The unorthodox California pop star was expected to join the Canadian crooner on his After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which starts July 8 at Toronto’s Rogers Centre and ends September 3 in Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium. According to Doja’s Friday afternoon tweet, she’ll be recovering from an upcoming tonsil surgery, rendering her unable to perform.
The FADER has reached out to representatives of both artists for further comment.
Doja braced fans for an incoming disappointment Thursday evening, revealing that a doctor had cut into an abscess in her tonsil and that her throat was “fucked.” She also admitted that she’d exacerbated the issue last weekend by drinking and vaping while on antibiotics at the Billboard Music Awards, where she won four awards but did not perform.
