Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff have signed on to write songs for forthcoming movie Mother Mary, Deadline reports. The A24-produced film stars Anne Hathaway as a fictional musician and follows her relationship with a fashion designer, played by Michaela Coel. Director David Lowery, known for his work on The Green Knight, will helm the project from a script he wrote.
XCX and Antonoff will write original songs for Mother Mary, presumably those belonging to Hathaway's character. The movie will have an original score composed by Daniel Hart.
This marks the latest collaboration between A24 and XCX. Her song "Hot Girl" was used on the soundtrack to last year's Bodies Bodies Bodies and was released on the Oscar-winning studio's in-house record label. Her latest album CRASH was released in 2022 and was named as one of The FADER's best albums of the year. More recently she shared a remix of Caroline Polachek's "Welcome To My Island."
