Interpol have announced a new singles series titled Interpolations, featuring other artists’ reworks of songs from the group’s 2022 LP, The Other Side of Make-Believe. The first installment, Makaya McCraven’s interpretation of late-album cut “Big Shot City,” is out today (April 19). It breathes new life into the track, with McCraven’s adventurous, jazz-influenced drumming adding a driving force to the meandering original.
In addition to McCraven, the Interpolations series will feature prolific producer Daniel Avery, progressive jazz guitarist Jeff Parker, experimental metal band Jesu, like-minded indie rockers Water From Your Eyes. Today’s announcement and single come with a mini-documentary called The Other Side of Make-Believe, directed by Atiba Jefferson.
