a Gift & a Curse debuted at No. 2 on Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the platform's R&B/Hip-hop album chart. The album dropped last month after he was released from jail in December 2022, the same month he had plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO).

He addressed the allegations in “bread & butter”, which was his first track out since his release. The song was featured on the album as well.
