Today (July 19), Billboard reports that Marilyn Manson will plead no contest to a charge of misdemeanor simple assault in the state of New Hampshire. The charge dates back to a 2019 incident at a Gilford concert, wherein he allegedly blew his nose on a photographer. An arrest warrant was issued in October of that year, but Manson didn’t turn himself in until 2021.

Manson is actually charged with two counts of simple assault, but according to the Billboard report, the second will be dismissed with the currently negotiated plea deal. That deal will be heard by a judge tomorrow, July 20. If found guilty, Manson faces a potential jail sentence; he has currently denied all accusations of assault pertaining to the incident.

The FADER has reached out to Marilyn Manson’s representatives for comment.

The assault case is far from Manson’s first brush with the judicial system in this year alone. In January, a California court dismissed a sexual assault lawsuit filed by his former partner Ashley Morgan Smithline; Esmé Bianco’s federal sexual assault suit against him was settled out of court, and a new suit was presented detailing allegations of child sexual abuse dating back to the ’90s. Later in the spring, an L.A. judge dismissed most of Manson’s defamation lawsuit against Evan Rachel Wood.
