The Haxan Cloak has dropped his first new music since 2013. "N/Y" is producer/composer Bobby Krlic's first release on his newly-created label, Archaic Devices label. Check out the song below.
"'N/Y' is a feeling I’ve had for a really long time," Krlic said in a statement. "It was made with the intention of being something that I could play live only, and was just this burst of intensity that could re-contextualize anywhere I would play it in. I kept working on it and it became something that I wanted to hear regardless of the context. I made the video in the same way. Making charcoal drawings and oil paintings, then fusing these together with self-shot video of myself in my studio. It feels immediate and without compromise. It was made quickly, in a moment, with complete intention. I really hope it changes the space you’re in."
In addition to sharing "N/Y," Archaic Devices will also reissue the two previous Haxan Cloak albums: 2011 release The Haxan Cloak plus 2013's Excavation. These remastered albums, alongside new merch, can be ordered now and will be shipped on November 22.
In the past decade Krlic's work has been primarily in the world of film and TV scores. He provided the music for Ari Aster movies Midsommar and Beau Is Afraid and also worked on the Netflix series Beef plus the hit video game Red Dead Redemption 2. Earlier this year he scored the DC superhero film Blue Beetle.
