Travis Scott says AI would "compress" his kids’ brains

“If it’s doing everything for you, how do you even know what’s right or wrong?”

Best known for his agglomerated rap albums and robust advertising portfolio, Travis Scott might not seem like a creative purist. But in a new interview with Rolling Stone, Scott says he’s skeptical of artificial intelligence, despite close collaborators like Kanye West and Playboi Carti openly using the technology in their music.

In fact, he says he doesn’t let his children use AI at all: “Having AI right now will compress their ability for their brain to maximize. So they got to learn the physical and the actual way of learning so then they know how to actually use AI to their best ability.”

Scott stopped short of ruling out AI entirely, saying in part, “Instead of running from something, you got to become a leader […] before it just gets too out of control.” Despite his diplomatic flexibility, Scott clearly thinks the technology can do as much harm as good when it comes to his parenting philosophy.

Scott also addressed recent disses by former labelmate Pusha-T, saying the veteran Clipse rapper dissed him “for the rollout.” Scott and Pusha’s relationship has decidedly soured since Drake dissed Pharrell on UTOPIA in 2023.

Scott is currently working on a followup to his 2023 album, though no details are available at this time.
