Premiere: Juiceboxxx & Dre Skull, “Hype (Udachi RMX)” MP3
When we die, we want a crowd of people replicating the bridge to this remix at our funeral: some dude chanting There’s no beginning/there is no end while everyone claps, then Juiceboxxx jumps in and yells Get hype one time!. Of course said funeral will be in a planetarium with lasers, and our ashes will be mixed with silver glitter which will rain down from the ceiling like confetti (is that gross?). Because life is a party, let’s get it in! Udachi has a habit of making tracks we’re insatiable for (see: “Paypur,” his bass-bombing track with Jubilee), so add his remix of Juicy-juice and Dre Skull’s breakbeaty palpitator to the dossier. Cop the original over here.

Video: Vybz Kartel, “Yuh Love”
- story Peter Macia
If you missed Vybz’ first tangle with Dre Skull in our Ghetto Palms Skull Riddim special, then this much more professional collabo might come as a little bit of a surprise, seeing as how Dre Skull’s prior discography suggests more in common with esoteric club jams than chart-topping dancehall riddims. But Vybz is not as popular as he is by depending on conventional routes, so don’t be surprised to hear more things like this and beyond it in the future. In the meantime, make sure to allot $9.99 of your hard-earned money to Vybz’ new album Pon Di Gaza, which was released on September 22nd to not much fanfare outside of the dancehall dedicated. And if listening to it makes you one of those dedicated, you can buy this crazy t-shirt of Kartel’s head.
Exclusive Freeload: Dre Skull, “I Want You (Bok Bok Remix)” MP3
- story THE FADER
Brooklyn’s Dre Skull has been rather busy lately, having somewhat detonated the dance/dancehall faction of the internet with his Sizzla-featuring “Gone Too Far.” Now he’s gone and traversed genres with a balloony synth track called “I Want You,” wherein Mr. Skull compresses Shannon Swain’s vox into a robotic crumple. On this awesome Bok Bok remix, most pop traces are sucked into a boomerang of UK funky, anti-gravity bass and soul claps and all. Bonus beat: Bok Bok made a mix for you to download that perfectly captures the interception between American music that just happens to be incredibly bass heavy and UK jams that are actually supposed to be bass heavy.

Exclusive Freeload: Dre Skull f. Sizzla, “Gone Too Far (Buraka Som Sistema Remix)”
- story THE FADER
When we were wee and copping white label UK garage twelves in like, the early oughties, our anxiety at spending entire paychecks in one record-shop excursion always dispersed when we heard the wobbly bass with the tweety (no twitter) treble. We never imagined that 9000 years later, we would be listening to kuduro that reminded us of those days but improved upon them to the umpteenth, yet still had the same vocalist as the garage singles. Sizzla! Jah praise your longevity. This Buraka remix of Dre Skull’s newest joint makes us wish we had a fog machine and energy drink waiter following us around at all times, instead of a camera crew and Adnan Ghalib.
