O’Spada, “Ten Strikes” MP3
Really, Sweden? How is it possible that your citizens are so overflowing with soul? FADER faves O’Spada, fronted by the lovely-voiced Julia Spada, finally dropped another gem of extra glossy funk that keeps a live eye on the future with a house pulse but also isn’t scared to spark it up with some Sheila E. lace glove-age. As far as we can tell this song is about a dude who abuses his girl, which is both an intense topic for a super upbeat song and highly topical. Or maybe we’re just projecting from the amount of times we’ve had to incredulously defend Rihanna this week. Either way, track bangs.

Dam-Funk 4 Clae, Beautiful Music 4 Beautiful People Mixtape MP3
- story Felipe Delerme
During one of many interviews for his F64 cover story, in response to a question about who he considers his musical peers , Dam-Funk made sure to shout out Mono/Poly and Nite Jewel, who are, coincidentally, two of the first three artists to appear on this mixtape he curated for sneaker brand Clae. The rest of the tracklist happens to include legends like The Whispers and Anita Baker, and takes it all the way back to ‘82, which we can only hope means that some of our younger siblings were conceived to these songs. Download the Beautiful Music 4 Beautiful People mixtape below and be sure to pick up Dam’s double CD Toeachizown, in stores now.

NYC: James Brown Re-Funked
- story THE FADER
The specialist vinyl imprint GAMM was started by clubhead (and former Swedish breakdance champ!) Mad Mats a few years ago, and the label has remained the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for forward-thinking DJs ever since. GAMM’s funkily clever flips and re-edits from the likes of Freddie Cruger, Beatconductor, and Tangoterje have become unlikely crate essentials, and their latest project, a four-volume (!!!) 12-inch tribute to James Brown called “Doin James,” is no exception – you can grab the vinyl here, or at your favorite trusty n dusty record emporium. This Tuesday in NYC, the whole crew celebrates with a “Doin James” party at APT featuring Freddie, Mats, FADER friend and contributor DJ Ayres, and more. Full flyer after the jump – get down, get into it, get involved.
