Even knowing Dam-Funk's extensive musical history, hearing "Hood Pass Intact" for the first time was like watching your super positive uncle punch some asshole in the face. It was a moment of supreme hardness amidst a daunting catalog of smooth Cali rider jams. Secretly we hoped that enterprising rappers would pick up on it and rap over it unofficially. What we got is actually so much better though, because Dam re-linked with the legendary MC Eiht to round things out. This new version of "Hood Pass Intact" comes from an upcoming 12-inch that also includes a promising sounding collaboration between Dam-Funk and Steve Arrington, which will act as a preview to full collaborative album. Hopefully it doesn't end up in the same imaginary space as the never released Madlib project with Melvin Van Peebles.
