Skepta Confronts His Recent Success On “Back Then”

Skepta teamed up with the producer Plastician on his latest track, “Back Then.” The instrumental is a 2005 remix of “Still Tippin,’” Mike Jones’ debut single and one of only two hits in the Southern MC’s mysterious career. Skepta reinvigorates the beat with his tightly-coiled delivery, rapping about the consequences of his recent success: they can see that I make paper/my last mixtape was a game changer/and now I got these hoes in my iPhone talking about hey stranger/I just double tap, switch apps/ain’t nobody got time for that.
