Let NAAFI Producer OMAAR Take You On A Ride With His “GTR” Double Single

The Mexico City DJ turned his supercar obsession into the inspiration for his newest single.

NAAFI was first born in 2010 as a club night designed to highlight music that was not being heard in their native Mexico City. Almost six years later, they are a thriving collective/label hybrid. Fresh off a Beats 1 residency this fall, they are still busy bigging up their strong roster of Mexican and Chilean artists (including another FADER fave Imaabs).

Their most recent release is a two-track single from OMAAR, a young DJ and producer from the Mexico City suburbs. "While researching super cars on the internet I stumbled upon Nissan's GTR R35, aka Godzilla," OMAAR told The FADER. "I found myself obsessed with the sound of its engine and I decided to sample the sound and make 2 tracks—the first one of the motor starting and a second one of the motor accelerating. Eventually I'll have to buy the car and accelerate the motors until it blows up." OMAAR's "GTR" double single is out today via NAAFI.
