August 29, 2017

Meemo Comma is the alias of Brighton-based producer Lara Rix-Martin, who has also released before as Lux E Tenebris, and who showcases the electronic music of women and non-binary people with her label Objects Ltd. With her debut album Ghost on the Stairs, out September 1, Rix-Martin uses immersive drones and warped vocal samples to portray her experience of having Audio Processing Disorder. APD is a condition that affects how you understand what you hear, causing, in Rix-Martin's words, "sounds to glitch and merge when processed by the brain." In an email to The FADER, she added: "'Loveday' explores darker sounds and textures, including the use of digital clipping to form beats. I'm drawn to eerie sounds in my work, I find there's something soothing about tracks that take you into a deeper state of consciousness." Listen below.
