A film based on the life of Wu-Tang Clan's Ol' Dirty Bastard is in the works at Sony, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ODB's bandmate and Clan founder RZA is attached to produce, and the Reporter's sources tell the site that the studio is searching for a director. No release date has been announced.
A film based on the life of ODB (real name Russell Tyrone Jones) has been rumored for years. The Wire's Michael K. Williams was attached to play the rapper in Dirty White Boy, though the film never made it past development. In 2016, RZA said a film was more likely thanks to the success of Straight Outta Compton, and that his cousin Rayshawn had a very promising script.
