Slayyyter was "Daddy AF" but now she's spiraling AF. Just kidding — I actually don't know her emotional state right now and I really hope she's doing amazing and is happy. Especially because she just dropped a stunning cover of the devastating, seminal Britney Spears classic, "Everytime." Yes, the song that I cried to staring out the backseat window when I was ten years old. Please experience all of its gloriousness now, if you haven't listened yet.
The DIY popstar announced the cover a couple days prior on her Twitter writing that it's the last song she's putting out before her album, and that "its a cover of a song that means a lot, from one of my heroes."
It's an especially moving time to put it out given the recent news from Britney Spears' manager that the pop veteran may never perform again. The singer cancelled her Las Vegas residency that was originally to start in February due to her father's declining health, and since then was reportedly admitted to a mental health facility against her will. Her manager Larry Randolph told TMZ, "From what I have gathered it's clear to me she should not be going back to do this Vegas residency, not in the near future and possibly never again."
Slayyyter is clearly delivering a touching homage to a personal hero, but the song is also an exciting testament to the singer's apparent limitless potential. If she can kick a Britney cover out of the park, what else can she do? In conclusion, I stan harder than I ever did before.
