A$AP Rocky will go on trial in Sweden after being charged with assault following an incident in Stockholm earlier this month, BBC News reports. The rapper was arrested alongside two other men, both of whom will also face trial. He must remain in custody until the trial begins on July 30.

The rapper has been in custody since July 3 following his arrest on suspicion of assault. He has had to cancel a number of festival dates as a consequence.

When Rocky was first arrested there were two alleged victims in the case. However, the prosecutor dropped one of their cases due to a lack of evidence. One of the alleged victims was also investigated for assault but the prosecutor dropped that case, too.

The Swedish prosecutor leading the investigation said he came to his decision to charge Rocky after "studying the videos made available to the inquiry".

"It is worth noting that I have had access to a greater amount of material than that which has previously been available on the internet," said Daniel Suneson of the City Public Prosecution Office.

Last week it was revealed that Kim Kardshian and Kanye West had lobbied the White House to work on freeing Rocky. Meanwhile, supposedly incorrect reports that the conditions of the jail he’s in are inhumane have been refuted by his lawyers.
