Last month, podcast platform Luminary announced The Midnight Miracle, an experimental podcast hosted by Dave Chappelle, Yasiin Bey, and Talib Kweli recorded at Chappelle's home last year. Today, the first episode was uploaded for free, as Stereogum points out.

The Midnight Miracle's first episode follows the themes of memorializing the dead and considering what (if any) actions could have kept them alive. "How do you make somebody want to live?" Chappelle says at the opening of the episode. "Seriously, if someone you love was actively, slowly killing themselves, what are you gonna do?” The program goes on to pay tribute to Amy Winehouse, Robin Williams, and Malik B., the rapper and founding member of The Roots who passed away last year at age 47.

The second episode is also out today, but it's only available to paid Luminary subscribers. The show concludes with new music from Bey and Kweli's duo Black Star. Their beloved debut project Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star was released in 1998, and in 2018 Kweli announced a new Black Star project, produced by Madlib. No updates emerged until last year when Kweli said the album was being "blocked" from release and implied the project was shelved.
