When We Were Young Festival adds second day, same lineup

The festival’s organizers, Live Nation, also responded to safety concerns regarding the event.

January 21, 2022

Live Nation has added a second day to the When We Were Young Festival with an lineup identical to the first. The promoters announced the news this afternoon in a tweet from the festival's account, citing "overwhelming demand." In addition to its originally scheduled date of Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, the festival will reproduce itself the following day at the same location. Tickets at all levels have already sold out for both days, but late buyers can join a waitlist for a chance to purchase single-day, general-admission entry for $245 plus a $79 fee.

News of the festival's stacked, nostalgic lineup — which includes Paramore, My Chemical Romance, and many more mid-aughts emo idols — rocked music Twitter Tuesday. But many fans wondered how they'd be able to enjoy fully fledged sets from all 65 listed acts in a single day. Adding a second day with the same exact dilemma will only help attendees who spend a minimum of $648 for two GA passes (fees included), but it's one way to alleviate the safety concerns already being levelled at the organizers.

Live Nation is currently a defendant in more than 100 lawsuits stemming from the tragic events of Astroworld 2021. But a spokesperson for When We Were Young told Newsweek that the "safety of fans, artists and staff is thoroughly planned for among event organizers and in coordination with local authorities."
