Drake has announced October World Weekend, a series of three live shows taking place in Toronto at the end of the month and the start of August. The three-day event will begin on July 28 with a show promising "All Canadian North Stars" before Lil Baby and Chris Brown play live on July 29. The following week, August 1, Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne will take to the stage in what is being dubbed a "Young Money Reunion."

October World Weekend isn't a replacement for OVO Fest, which Drake has hosted in Toronto since 2013, but rather a hold-over while an anniversary event is prepared for next year. Drake explained his plans in an Instagram post, writing, “I am currently working on bringing OVO FEST around the world in 2023 for the 10th Anniversary, but of course we wanted to turn the city up for the summer!!! More event announcements to come.”

Last month, Drake released Honestly, Nevermind, an album built to bring tears to the dancefloor. Honestly, Nevermind has a clear house and club influence, though the more traditional rap track "Jimmy Crooks" was the one to hit No.1 on the Billboard chart after the album release.
