According to reports Takeoff was killed after a game of dice. Fellow Migos member Quavo was also present, though was reportedly unharmed during the incident, which took place at 2:30 a.m. Two other people on the premises were shot and taken to hospital.

Takeoff formed Migos alongside family members Offset and Quavo in 2008. The trio broke out five years later when they released 2013 single “Versace,” taken from their mixtape Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas). The group hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016 when they released “Bad and Boujee” alongside Lil Uzi Vert. They followed that with three albums in their Culture series, including 2021 release Culture III.
