A judge in Los Angeles has ruled that A$AP Rocky must stand trial in January 2024 on felony assault charges, per Assosciated Press. The charges stem from an alleged shooting in November 2021 involving Rocky and former A$AP Mob member, A$AP Relli. Rocky denies two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

The decision to go to trial came after prosecutors presented new video evidence to judge ML Villar. The video features audio of two gunshots being fired off camera and a man running around a street corner. Still images from a separate surveilance camera also show a man carrying a gun. Villar said “the totality of the video and testimony” shows there is sufficient evidence to proceed with the trial to its preliminary stages.

“We’re not disappointed, not surprised, we expected to go to trial, we’ve been planning for trial all along,” Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, told reporters. “Rocky is going to be vindicated when all this is said and done, without question.”

Rocky, real name Rakim Myers, could face up to nine years in prison if found guilty. He was first arrested in April of last year by police at Los Angeles International Airport. In additional to the criminal proceedings, Relli is also suing Rocky and Tacopina for defamation.
