Eykah Badu is returning with her first studio album in 16 years.
Today, August 13, legendary singer multi-hyphenate Erykah Badu and hip-hop producer The Alchemist share key details about their forthcoming album and tour, paired with a new single, "Witch Doctor."
This forthcoming album is Badu's first studio album in 16 years, and there’s no better producer to revive her run than The Alchemist, who has worked on key cuts with everyone from Mobb Deep to Freddie Gibbs. A pair of singles with Badu and The Alchemsit, "Next to You" and "Echos 19 (mix 122)," predates the announcement, with Badu debuting them at her Junteenth performance in Dallas.
Badu told her longtime creative partner Cold Cris that she had always wanted to rap over Mobb Deep's "The Realest," an Alchemist production, and after the two were finally introduced, their conversations turned into an the album.

What is the new music like?
The new track "Witch Doctor" is effortlessly smooth with soft-textured textured rhythm accompanied by the classic silky delivery of Badu’s poignant lyrics. The single "Next To You" approaches with a similar energy with more psychedelic production.
