The R&B artist’s first new album in eight years is out August 23 via Columbia.

Raphael Saadiq announces new album <i>Jimmy Lee</i> featuring Kendrick Lamar

Raphael Saadiq is a vastly influential R&B polymath who was a member of Tony! Toni! Toné!; worked with D'Angelo, Q-Tip, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad as part of production crew The Ummah, and; executive-produced Solange's A Seat At The Table. His last solo album Stone Rollin’ was released in 2011, and this year Saadiq will follow it up with Jimmy Lee, out August 23. The project will feature Kendrick Lamar as well as Saadiq's Ummah collective associate Ali Shaheed Muhammad, according to a press release. The first song released from the album is called "Something Keeps Calling," another virtuosic groove with guitar from Rob Bacon.
