Mac Miller, the 26-year-old rapper and producer from Pittsburgh, died on Friday, September 7, his family has confirmed. According to TMZ, "Mac was found Friday at around noon at his San Fernando Valley home and was pronounced dead at the scene."
"Malcome McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26," his family writes. "He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. There are no further details available as to the cause of his death. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect the family's privacy at this time."
Starting from the age of 15, Miller rose to prominence as a mixtape artist, and his 2011 debut studio album Blue Slide Park was the first independent album to debut at No. 1 on Billboard in decades. In 2013, after spending some time away from the industry and honing his skills as a producer and musician, he was featured on the cover of The FADER. He just released a new album Swimming last month.
