A three-part documentary series based on 6ix9ine's massive hip-hop career and the legal issues that brought it down will air on Showtime. The show will be titled SuperVillain, and is based on the 2019 Rolling Stone report “Tekashi 6ix9ine: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Supervillain.” No release date for the show has been set.

“Tekashi 6ix9ine’s story fits into Rolling Stone’s history of epic narratives about the most important and controversial artists of our times,” the magazine's President and COO Gus Wenner said in a statement. “We are thrilled to work with Showtime, Imagine, and Lightbox on the definitive docuseries of Tekashi’s meteoric rise and spectacular fall.”

6ix9ine was a rap superstar until his arrest in November 2018. Facing federal racketeering and weapons charges, the rapper born Daniel Hernandez pleaded guilty and agreed to co-operate with the state's case against Anthony "Harv" Ellison and Aljermiah "Nuke" Mack, two of 6ix9ine's former associates in the Nine Trey Bloods gang. 6ix9ine's testimony helped lead to convictions against both men this past September.

Despite condemnation for "snitching" from all corners of the rap community, 6ix9ine reportedly declined witness protection in order to return to music, and signed a $10 million, two album record deal with his former label 10K Projects.

The story of 6ix9ine will also be the focus of an episode of documentary television produced by 50 Cent. Read a timeline of 6ix9ine's legal issues here.
