Hurray For The Riff Raff, Life On Earth

Alynda Segarra's long-running project Hurray For The Riff Raff announced a new album in October with the lead single “Rhododendron.” It signaled a poppier direction for the singer-songwriter, and she's just fine with the shift. "Life On Earth is an album about survival, informed by the wisdom of the nature within and all around us," Segarra writes on Instagram. "It’s my journey through time, across landscapes, changing and growing all the way.

Etran de L'Aïr is a group of brothers and cousins from Agadez, Niger that have honed their chops playing weddings. Their latest album of Saharan rock music may take them to new places, but it was only made with the people of their homeland in mind. “We play for the Tuareg, the Toubou, the Zarma, the Hausa,” says bandleader Moussa “Abindi” Ibra. “When you invite us, we come and play.”
