That Countdown Site For A Drake and Future Mixtape Is Probably Fake

“Whether the tape does or does not come, it should be a surprise,” a source close to Future told The FADER.

That site counting down to something from Drake and Future at 11 p.m. on Friday appears to be fake, a source close to Future told The FADER on Wednesday.

A search of the site’s URL—putitallinaplasticbag.com—on multiple domain records databases suggests the site was registered on Sunday, September 13. The countdown was noticed widely around the web on Tuesday evening, but several aspects of the site hint at illegitimacy. First, it’d be strange for Drake news to appear on a standalone site instead of on the long-running OVO blog. The countdown site also features old logos for both Drake and Future—the Drake logo used appears similar to Drake branding from 2009; the Future logo is one first used during Future’s promotion of 2014 album Honest (and still used as a header on Future’s official website.)

Perhaps the biggest sign that this countdown is false, though, is that it exists at all. Drake’s February 2015 mixtape arrived on iTunes with no official warning, and Future’s album DS2 was announced just days before its release, in an official press release from his label, Epic.
