The Game’s Purp and Patron Mixtape

January 25, 2011

It’s fun to guess how many people woke up this morning crossing their fingers for a new 29-track, double-CD Game mixtape. Seems like it’s been a while. His allegedly-upcoming RED Album has been stuck in production for three years, so it makes sense that there’s pent-up material. The producer list is super deep—Neptunes, RZA, Dr. Dre—and the guest list is staggering—Snoop, Wayne, Ross, Wiz (twice), Boosie, Bun B, Ashanti—but the most surprising moment, which is odd because the verse is a few years old, is when he channels Slick Rick on “Children’s Story” over a re-configured Biz Markie beat. Things just don’t usually seem so fun for The Game. There’s something tragic about such an expensive seeming mixtape with the for-sale release still in flux, but hearing Game filter his characteristic growl through a fake British accent makes it all seem sunnier. Preview a stream of the whole thing, after the jump.
